Directions
Preparation 🥒
Preheat the oven to 375°F
With adult help, peel the potatoes.
Slice the potatoes into thin, round slices (about 1/8 inch thick).
Peel the garlic cloves and crush them with the side of your knife.
Rub the garlic all over the inside of the baking dish for extra flavor.
Lightly butter or spray the dish with pan spray.
Grate the Gruyère cheese and set it aside.
How to Cook 🍳
In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, thyme, salt, and pepper.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it’s warm (but not boiling).
Arrange the sliced potatoes in overlapping layers in the prepared baking dish.
Pour the warm cream mixture over the potatoes, making sure everything is well-covered.
Sprinkle the grated Gruyère cheese evenly over the top of the potatoes.
Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Carefully remove from the oven using oven mitts.
