Hey, Chef Jason here! 🥪 Ready to whip up a French classic? We’re making Croque-Monsieur, the ultimate cheesy sandwich experience! Think layers of ham, melty cheese, and a golden, buttery crust, all topped off with a sprinkle of mozzarella and a hint of Dijon mustard for that extra kick. We’ll toast these beauties in a skillet, then finish them off in the oven until the cheese is bubbly and irresistible. It’s crunchy, savory, and oh-so-satisfying. Let’s get to it and make your taste buds dance! 🧀🥖
Ingredients
-
4 slices of white bread
-
4 slices of ham
-
4 slices of mild cheddar cheese or Swiss cheese
-
2 tablespoons butter (softened)
-
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
-
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (optional)
-
¼ cup grated mozzarella cheese
-
To taste, Balinese Truffle Salt
Directions
Preparation 🥒
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
Lay out the 4 slices of bread on a cutting board.
Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
Place a slice of ham and cheese on two of the bread slices.
Top with another slice of ham and cheese to make it extra cheesy.
Place the remaining bread slices on top, mayonnaise side down.
Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
How to Cook 🍳
Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in. Toast for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
Spread Dijon mustard (optional) on top of each sandwich, then sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese over the top.
Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet lined with foil and sprayed with pan spray. Transfer to the oven and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the sandwiches cool for a minute. Slice them in half and sprinkle with Balinese True Salt for extra flavor. Enjoy your cheesy and delicious Croque-Monsieur!
